• Soldbuch to Uffizier Anton Hammer, nice first issue opened in September 1939. He saw action in France and on the Eastern Front with Infanterie-Regiment 41, part of the 10. Infanterie-Division. He was awarded the EKII, the Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz, the Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen and the Ostmedaille during these years. Mecial issues kept him away from the front in the second part of the war - it was only until the last month that the front line caught up with him again. His last recorded unit was Feldersatz-Bataillon 119 of the 11. Panzer-Division early 1945. By April 1945, he was hit by an Allied bullet going right through his Soldbuch. Hammer was delivered into Lazarett Oberhof in Thüringen on 5th of April 1945. We are unsure about his fate - there are hospital entries until late May 1945, but the stripe after his wound code on page 12 seems to suggest a fatality. He is not listed on the Volksbund website as KIA, though.
  • The fact he was wounded in Thüringen matches the divisional history of the 11. Panzer-Divison; he was likely transfered from the Ersatz-Bataillon to an active unit of the division shortly before his April 1945 wound.
  • Soldbuch in good condition with a nice portrait photo, and missing page 19-20. Clear impact of the bullet going through the upper half of all pages!
