• Soldbuch and Wehrpass grouping to Oberst Gerhard Wentscher. He was awarded the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold as early as 1st of December 1941 as commander of (Panzer-)Artillerie-Regiment 13, part of the 13. Panzer-Division.
  • Wentscher was promoted to Leutnant in 1915, and earned four awards including the EKI in WWI. He was a career officer who joined the Wehrmacht as Hauptmann in 1934, became Kompanichef in Art.Rgt.13 in 1936, and after his promotion to Major became Adjudant of the 13. Infanterie-Division in 1938. He fought in this function during the Polish campaign, earning him the EK2 Spange, and in the Western campaign, where he was awarded the EK1 Spange. After the conversion of the 13.ID into the 13. Panzer-Division he fought on the Eastern Front as Oberstleutnant and commander of the Artillerie-Regiment 13. Severely wounded in his leg on 13th of October 1941, he was awarded a very early DKiG on 1st of December 1941. He was unfit for further front service and finished his war as Oberst in the Oberkommando des Heeres.
  • In his military career of about 18 years, he was entitled to an impressive twelve awards: the EKII, the EKI, the Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz, the Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer, the Dienstauszeichnung IV. Klasse, the Spange zum EKII, the Sudeten-Erinnerungsmedaille, the Spange zum EKI, the Offiziers-Kreuz of the Romanian Crown, the Verwundetenabzeichen in Silber, the Sturmabzeichen and the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold.
  • The Soldbuch features a large portrait photo that will likely be one of the very best you will ever see. Wentscher is holding a telephone (completely against regulations for Soldbuch photos) and is wearing his DKiG and other awards. Soldbuch was opened August 1939 by Generalleutnant Moritz von Faber du Faur, divisional commander. It is complete and remains in very good condition.
  • The Wehrpass also has a military portrait photo of Wentscher, showing his WWI EK1. Opened in January 1941, the Wehrpass is also in excellent and complete condition, listing all his awards, battles and assignments.
  • Also included are Wentscher's Inländer-Jahresjagdschein from 1940 (with military portrait), his driving license issued in Gross-Born, 1938, and a small private photo.
  • Unique opportunity for a center piece in your collection, the Soldbuch will look fantastic when displayed!
