• Soldbuch to Grenadier Wilhelm Thies. This young boy, aged 17, was called up late September 1944 with the elite Fallschirm-Panzer-Ersatz-und-Ausbildungs-Regiment Hermann Göring. Possibly he was directly sent to Eastern Prussia, though he may have been a short time in Holland first. After spending over a month in hospital in Thorn (Torun, Poland), he was with the Fallschirm-Ersatz-Brigade 2 Hermann Göring and ended up in the "Heiligenbeil Kessel". This was likely as part of the Fallschirm-Panzergrenadier-Division 2 "Hermann Göring" who was also trapped in this pocket. Fighting off the Russians during the cold winter months, he was badly wounded by a bullet on 12th of February 1945. He died in the Feldlazarett 181 three days later. Wilhelm Thies, killed a month before his 18th birthday, still rests in Heiligenbeil - now Mamonovo, Oblast Kaliningrad, Russia.
  • The Soldbuch is complete and in a good condition. Portrait photo was stamped and glued in, 100% original to the Soldbuch. Notice the interesting uniform with collar modification.
