• Soldbuch to Unteroffizier Berthold Klug. First issue from January 1942. Klug served in a number of heavy Flak units, he was trained for tropical duty with Flak-Ausbildungs-Abteilung 9 (Trop.) and then forwarded to schwere Flak-Abteilung 243. This Abteilung was destined for Africa, but Klug ended up on Crete with the schwere Flak-Abteilung 131 positioned in the capital Iraklion. Late October 1943 he moved to the II. Abteilung of Flak-Regiment 12 (mot.), also on Kreta, where he ended the war. Notice his last-minute promotion to Unteroffizier in May 1945, confirmed by the "Flakführer Kreta". Berthold Klug was awarded the Kriegsverdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern and the Tätigkeitsabzeichen der Flakartillerie.
  • The Soldbuch still has the most important pages but is not complete, missing pages 5-6, 11-14 and 17-20. It does come with pages 11-12 and 31-32 of his Wehrpass; it seems all "superfluous" pages were removed when he entered Allied captivity in 1945. The Wehrpass pages give a nice overview of his units and combat days, mentioning a total of 48 days of fighting under enemy fire on Crete.
