Wehrpass to Feldwebel Bruno Tschassel. First issue from January 1939. Completing his RAD service by the end of that year, this Austrian student joined the Luftwaffe in November 1939. Tschassel qualified as a pilot with the Blindflugschule Neuburg (Donau) late 1941. After another half year of flying with Flugzeugführerschule C12 in Prague, he moved to his home area, serving with Flugzeugführerschule C-8 in Wiener-Neustadt. Here, he would soon take up a role as a Luftwaffe pilot trainer himself: the entry on page 22 qualifies him as "Fluglehrer" from June 1943. During one of these training missions, on 31st of March 1944 at 7 pm in the evening, Tschassel crashed on his airport and was killed instantly. He was buried in a family grave in Ottensheim, and left behind his wife Sieglinde, whom he had maried in 1942, and his newborn child.
The Wehrpass is in an excellent and complete condition. It comes with his death notice. The WASt archive cards provide some more info on his burial and are shown just for reference. Additional research might reveal more about the circumstances of his crash.
