Wehrpass to Oberjäger Otto Bollenbacher. First issue from September 1939. A baker in daily life, Bollenbacher enlisted in the Luftwaffe after completing his RAD service in occupied France, 1940. After basic training in Pilsen (Czech Republic) and half a year with an airfield staff unit in the Heimat, he joined the III. Luftwaffen-Schützen-Bataillon in December 1941. This was one of the first Luftwaffe infantry units, later better known as the Luftwaffen-Felddivisionen. After two months of fighting on the central sector of the Eastern Front, Bollenbacher fell victim to the harsh winter conditions: he suffered from severe frostbite in both his feet. As he didn't recover from the wounds, both his lower legs were amputated in Reservelazarett Halberstadt in June 1942. Following these painful events, he was awarded the Verwundetenabzeichen in Gold, the Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse and the Ostmedaille.

Surprisingly, Bollenbacher was not immediately discharged but served for another two years with Fallschirmjäger-Ersatz-Regiment 5 in Stendal. He was promoted to the FJ rank of Oberjäger in August 1942, then finally released early 1944.

The Wehrpass is in excellent and complete condition. It comes with his Ausmusterungsschein confirming the medical discharge from the Wehrmacht.
