Wehrpass to Major Karl Pflieger. Issued in October 1942, but not marked as Zweitschrift. Pflieger was a WWI pilot and later active Luftwaffe officer from Ingolstadt. He had already joined his first flying unit in 1913, the Fliegerstation Schleissheim. At the outbreak of WW1, he served with Feldflieger-Abteilung 1b, and from mid 1915 he was mostly with Feldflieger-Abteilung 6b. Not much is known about his exploits, but FFA6b was located at Bühl (near Saarburg, now Buhl-Lorraine), Pflieger flew an Aviatik C.I which he crashed late 1915. He was heavily wounded on 14th of September 1916 near Rouvroy, France. He must have been succesful on other occasions too, as he was awarded the EKII (June 1915) and EKI (February 1916). Even after the armistice of November 1918, Pflieger kept on flying as instructor in Fliegerschule 5 Gersthofen and the Reichswehrfliegerpark. In October 1920, he joined the Polizei-Fliegerstaffel of the Bayerische Landespolizei. He remained in service there for 15 long years, performing active flying police duty last ranked as Polizei-Oberkommissär, until in 1935 he was transferred to the military again as Obermeister im Reichsluftaufsichtsdienst (RLAD), subordinate to the RLM (Reichsluftfahrtministerium).

Operational on the airfield of München-Oberwiesenfeld from 1935 to 1942, Pflieger moved to the airfield of München-Riem in March 1942, then to Italy at the end of the year. He served with several airfield staff commands: in Piacenza, on Sicily and in Vicenza, where he received a last promotion to Major before retreating to Bavaria again following the Allied progress in Italy. Due to his uninterrupted service from 1913 until the end of WWII, Pflieger received an impressive total of FIFTEEN awards: the Fliegerabzeichen, EKII, EKI, Militärverdienstkreuz mit Schwerter and the Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz all as a WWI pilot, the Schlesische Adler, the Flieger-Erinnerungsabzeichen, the Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer and the "Militärfliegerabzeichen" (likely an early nomination of the Third Reich pilot's badge), then ALL four grades of the Dienstauszeichnung, the Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 1. Oktober 1938, and the KVKII mit Schwertern.

The Wehrpass is in complete and excellent condition, including a portrait photo in uniform, and comes with a confirmation of his driving license made at the airfield of München-Riem in April 1945, plus seven pages of copies from the Bayerische Hauptstaatsarchiv. These include an ID card with portrait photo, a resumee of his WWI career, and information on his activity with the Bavarian police in the 1920's. On the latter, notice he flew a plane rented from Lufthansa as part of the "Flugüberwachung Bayern-Süd".
