Wehrpass to Schütze Karl Marx. First issue from October 1936. Although not bearing the most popular name for service in Nazi Germany, Marx volunteered for the Wehrmacht and served with Infanterie-Regiment 49 in Breslau, 1936. He trained with Panzer-Abwehr-Abteilung 221 in Lamsdorf in the Summer of 1939, but then got ill just days before the start of the war and was discharged. Called up again in 1944, he switched to the Luftwaffe, serving with Luftgau-Nachrichten-Regiment 8 in Oppeln-Birkental, and from November 1944 onwards with the A.u.S.-Regiment der Luftflotte 4, seucring the airfields in Slovakia and Austria from the approaching Russian army.
