Grouping to Oberfeldwebel Richard Wittmann, a DKiG winner and succesful fighter bomber pilot. Volunteering for the Luftwaffe in 1939, Wittmann was soon trained as fighter pilot on Bf 109 and Fw 190, and in July 1942, he joined the 10. (Jabo) Staffel of Jagdgeschwader 26, flying fighter bomber missions to Britain in his Focke-Wulf Fw 190A. After some time as a test pilot with the Erprobungsstelle Rechlin, he continued his front career with Schnellkampfgeschwader 10 in 1943, with 8./ Kampfgeschwader 51 in 1944, and then 2./ Nachtschlachtgruppe 20 from November 1944 until the end of the war. In June 1944, he was awarded the Ehrenpokal, the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold followed in February 1945. He survived the war and lived a full life until well into the 21st century.   • June 1945 dated "Abschrift" of his Flugzeugführerschein, with great signature of his last Gruppenkommandeur, Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves winning Major Kurt Dahlmann of NSGr.20. 
  • Award document for the Flugzeugführer-Abzeichen, August 1941, facsimile signed by DKiS winner General Gustav Kastner-Kirdorf. 
  • Award document for the Eiserne Kreuz 2. Klasse, September 1942 while with 10./JG26 for actions over the Channel / England, hand signed by Oberst Joachim-Friedrich Huth, Knight's Cross winner and later general. 
  • Award document for the Frontflugspange für Kampfflieger in Bronze, June 1943 with 2./S.K.G.10, hand signed by Generalleutnant Stefan Fröhlich, Knight's Cross winner. 
  • Award document for the Eiserne Kreuz 1. Klasse, November 1943, hand signed by Generalfeldmarschall Hugo Sperrle, Knight's Cross winner. 
  • Award document for the Ehrenpokal, June 1944, facsimile signed by Hermann Göring and hand signed by Generaloberst Bruno Loerzer, Knight's Cross and Pour le Mérite winner. 
  • Award document for the Frontflugspange für Kampfflieger in Silber, July 1944, hand signed by Major Kurt Dahlmann, Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves winner. 
  • Award document for the Frontflugspange für Kampfflieger in Gold, November 1944, hand signed by Oberstleutnant Rudolf Hallensleben, Knight's Cross winner and commander of Kampfgeschwader 2 (controlling NSGr.20 at the time). 
  • Actual sized COPY of the formal award document for the Deutsches Kreuz in Gold, awarded February 1945. 
  • Promotion document to Feldwebel, February 1944, again hand signed by Major Kurt Dahlmann, Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves winner. 
  • Large sized (23x16 cm) portrait in the field plus ten more original photos going from his youth to his pilot days, plus a few postwar reprints of portrait in flying gear and with his DKiG in wear. 
  • Six wartime documents, including a telegram following the bombing of his home in Bamberg, a "Gefechtsmeldung" from S.K.G.10 and more. 
  • Driving licenses from 1995 and 1999, with portrait photo. 
  • A few wartime newspaper clippings and postwar publications, includes books on his Fw 190 figther bomber, copies of articles about him etc. Wittmann appears in many postwar publications, including the "JG26 Luftwaffe Fighter Wing War Diary" by D. Caldwell, and several of his wittness accounts published in the book "Luftwaffe Fighter Bombers over Britain" by C. Goss.
