Large Soldbuch grouping to Oberstabsarzt Dr. Walter Vogl. This man was born in München 1888 as the son of the later Generalleutnant Moritz Vogl, who passed away in 1940. Like his father, he served in the First World War, earning multiple awards including the EKI. By the start of the Second World War, he was an experienced doctor in the rank of Stabsarzt. By July 1940, he held the senior rank of Oberstabsarzt (Major equivalent), and commanded the hospitals he worked in, mostly in Braunfels and Wetzlar. In the latter city, he was taken POW by the Americans on 27th of March 1945, and continued to serve in POW hospitals. Dr. Vogl was awarded the KVKII mit Schwertern in 1942.

The grouping consists of:

  • Soldbuch, first issue from September 1939, complete and in very good condition including a nice uniform portrait showing all his awards.
  • DRK Personalausweis, October 1944.
  • Excellent postcard sized studio portrait, plus another portrait identical to the Soldbuch photo.
  • A large document and postcard grouping with about 40 prewar, wartime and postwar pieces, including a few interesting documents like hand painted name cards, medical courses, a card sent by Generalleutnant Werner Pinkvoss, POW papers, and an NSDAP document on bomb damage sustained in Kassel 1945. Also includes a lock of his blond hair from his childhood kept in an envelope, and an interesting document about the safekeeping of his private family artworks by the "Staatliche Kunstsammlungen in Kassel" from August 1943.
