Small Soldbuch grouping to Matrosen-Obergefreiter Martin Thomas. First issue from May 1942, when the only 17 year underwent his basic Kriegsmarine training with the 13. Schiffsstammabteilung. After further training in Libau (Latvia), Thomas served with the Küstenschutz-Flottille Preußenküste in the Gotenhafen area, and from September 1943 with the Hafenschutzflottille Narvik. He served on board of the Kriegsfischkutter (KFK) 504, patroling the area of the Narvik harbor. August 1944, he received the Minensuchabzeichen. By the end of 1944, his boat was renamed into Vorpostenboot V-6717 of the 67. Vorpostenflottille. He surrendered to the British in Norway at the end of the war, and was used in sea mine clearance as a POW, as can be seen in the entry on page 21.

The Soldbuch is a 100% complete and in very good condition. Interesting entries include the Führerpaket on pages 21 and 24 (he received one bottle of liquor), the payments in Norwegian crowns, a "Polarwäsche" uniform set to endure the harsh winter conditions in the Nordic waters, and more. Also included is a postcard sized portrait with reverse dedication, a few more photos taken during his time in Gotenhafen, a certificate and a vacation permit from his mine clearing days in Norway, his POW discharge document from 1946, and a telegram and newspaper clipping on his father's death.
