Rare ROA (POA) Russian volunteer Soldbuch to Schütze Wasili Timakow. First issue from June 1944. Timakow had volunteered at the age of 19 in July 1943 and was trained with the Ost-Ausbildungs-Regiment Mitte. He then joined the Ost-Bataillon I / Mitte. The very interesting extra paper confirms he was attached to the 275. Infanterie-Division in June 1944, and allowed to wear German insignia.
With the 275.ID, Timakow fought in Normandy against the Americans, on the Cotentin peninsula. Parts of the division fought near Carentan, later the entire division fought south of Saint-Lô. Timakow must have been captured in Normandy as the division was almost completely destroyed before and during the Falaise gap fighting, and there are no further entries in the Soldbuch beyond June 1944.
Soldbuch with green bilingual cover in very good condition and complete with 20 pages. A portrait photo was, as usual with these, never inserted. This rare passbook, even more desirable due to the Normandy connection, was published in the book German Third Reich Era Documents by J. Young & D. Meinz, on pages 300-304 of Volume III.
