Wehrpass to Obergefreiter Eugen Schwellnus. First issue from October 1939. Losing both his parents at young age, this young Mannheim born man had his sister listed as closest relative. He was called up in May 1941 by the Luftwaffe, and first served almost two years with Sperrfeuerbatterie 300, protecting the Danish coast. It used Russian captured 8,5 cm anti-aircraft guns, and the training page 20 also lists French captured 7,5 cm guns. In May 1943, his Batterie was reformed into 5./ schwere Flak-Abteilung 272 and positioned in the Copenhagen area.
August 1944, the schw.Flak.Abt.272 was moved to Dessau in Germany, and Schwellnus transferred to the 3./ schwere Flak-Abteilung 443, active in Münster. September 1944, his Batterie was detached from his Abteilung, motorised and positioned on the Western Front, in the German-Dutch border area. It became part of Flak-Regiment 94 on the Niederrhein. The particularly detailed battle list for 1944-'45 on page 32-33 makes very nice mentioning of the Maasbrückenkopf near Venlo (Holland), followed by fighting on the Rhein, in the area of Kleve-Xanten-Goch, and then in March 1945 the "Luftlandeoperationen in Holland", which must be refering to Operation Varsity. The list continues with fighting in the Emmerich - Arnhem area and various other places in western Germany. The days of actual fighting were all accounted on these pages. A few days before war's end, Schwellnus' battery was renamed into 3./ gemischte Flak-Abteilung 674.
The Wehrpass is in complete and very good condition.
