Grouping to Volkssturmsanitäter Otto Schneider, a veteran of the First World War who joined the Volkssturm of his birth city Mannheim in February 1945. He must have seen action against the Americans who liberated the city on March 29th, 1945. Schneider had previously served with the Badische Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 142 in 1914-'18, got wounded three times on the Western Front and earned the EKII in May 1917 in France.  

The grouping consists of:

• Volkssturm Soldbuch, first issue from March 1945 in complete and excellent condition. 
• Mobilisation letter for the Volkssturm, February 1945. 
• Wehrpass, first issue from November 1943 in complete and excellent condition. 
• Wehrpass-Notiz sent as Feldpost. 
• Mobilisation letter for the Selbstschutz branch of the Luftschutz, May 1944. 
• Single mounted EK2 in very good condition. 
• Single mounted Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer, marked PLS (Paul Schulze & Co., Lübeck). 
• Verwundetenabzeichen in Silber, very good condition. 
• Award document for the EK2, May 1917, hand signed by Oberstleutnant Otto Teschner, Pour le Mérite winner and later Generalleutnant in WW2. 
• Award document for the silberne Verdienstmedaille am Bande der Militärischen Karl-Friedrich-Verdienstmedaille, December 1917. 
• Award document for the Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer, April 1935.
