• Soldbuch to Gefreiter Franz Haas. First issue from February 1941. Haas first served two years with a Strom-Sicherungs-Kompaie, and then joined the Br├╝ckenbau-Bataillon 655 that was being resurrected after its destruction in Stalingrad in Spring 1943. This bridge building unit served as Heerestruppe in the West, and was deployed with the 5. Panzerarmee in 1944-'45.  This army is of course best known for its involvement in the battles around Bastogne. Haas was treated for a fever in June 1944, and spent some time with the medical station of the 21. Panzer-Division, only a week before D-Day, when it came in action in Normandy. He made it back to his unit retreating from France after a last leave home late July 1944, and must have been made POW in the Ardennes. Notice the low American POW number 31G-786.229 on the cover and opening page, and some last dated entries in September 1944.
  • Soldbuch in used but complete condition, pages loose. A portrait photo was never inserted.
