• Soldbuch to Funk-Gefreiter Kurt Urban. First issue from September 1943, when the 17 year old was called up by the Kriegsmarine. He was trained as a signals soldier in the 1. Marine-Funkmess-Lehr-Abteilung in Puttgarden, on the German island of Fehmarn. Late January 1944, he was transferred to the 1. Marine-Funkmess-Abteilung in De Haan, on the Belgian coast near Ostend. March 1944, he was sent to Denmark, where he would soon join the 7. Batterie of Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung 522. This coastal artillery unit was located on the shores of Rosnaes, part of Kalundborg, west of Copenhagen. It operated four 12,7 cm guns. Urban was awarded the KVKII late April 1945, and then taken POW at the end of the war.
