- Soldbuch to Obergefreiter Karl Vettermann. First issue from August 1939 by Pionier-Bataillon 62 in Wittenberg. This 29 year old baker was first trained as a pioneer, but then moved to Panzerjäger units. He was first with Panzer-Abwehr-Abteilung 208 of the 208. Infanterie-Division, until his Kompanie was used to form the Panzer-Abwehr-Abteilung 229 of the newly erected 197. Infanterie-Division in March 1940. He was wounded during the French campaign and hospitalised in Hamburg with shrapnel in his back. Vettermann received the Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz for this wound. Notice the year of this award was written as 1941 instead of 1940 - an error from the clerk who made the backdated entry in 1941.
- Vettermann never fully recovered from his wound; he was with a number of reserve units and then in 1944 with the Festungsstammabteilung LXIII, part of the 63. Armeekorps newly erected in November 1944 to fight on the Oberrhein front.
- The Soldbuch has some water damage, especially visible on the portrait photo which has also come loose.
