• Soldbuch grouping to Fallschirm-Obergefreiter Friedrich Kräber. He entered the Luftwaffe in April 1942 and joined the Luftlandegeschwader 1 in October 1942. At that point, the Geschwader was flying support missions over Stalingrad. Later, they were active in the West (France and Italy). In the summer of 1944, Kräber moved from transporting paratroopers to becoming a Fallschirmjäger himself. In July 1944, he completed jump training and was assigned to the 13. Kompanie of Fallschirmjäger-Regiment 4. The regiment was fighting in Italy with the 1.FJD, in the area of Rimini and Imola. Kraeber eventually earned the Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse and the Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz during the last days of the fighting in Italy. He survived the war and was released by the Allies in July 1945.
  • In March 1944, he was shortly in hospital and he was due to be released to a penal unit, the Ersatz-Brigade 999, but this entry was striped out. Did he get a punishment but was this decision overruled?
  • The Soldbuch is in a used condition, with (period/old) repairs and equipment pages 11-14 missing. It does have the original photo and a nice cloth cover.
  • It comes with a few extras, primary the very nice award document for his cloth Fallschirmschützenabzeichen issued in Salzwedel, July 1944. Also included is his POW release document and an Arbeitskarte from 1945-'47.
