- Soldbuch to Obergefreiter Heinrich Bartels. This baker was called up in September 1939 and continued his civilian profession in the military. He ended up with Bäckerei-Kompanie 31, part of the 31. Infanterie-Division. With this unit, he saw action in Holland, Belgium and France in 1940. Later that year, his unit was used to form the 131. Infanterie-Division, and he transfered to Bäckerei-Kompanie 131 within that division. The 131.ID fought on the central sector of the Eastern Front from June 1941. Though working closely behind the front for over four years, Bartels was only entitled to the Ostmedaille. The last entry in the Soldbuch is from January 20th, 1944, when he received a batch of winter equipment. He must have been captured by the Russians soon after, and died in Russian captivity on 6th of June 1944 (D-Day), somewhere in the East. His body is missing since.
- The Soldbuch is in an excellent and complete condition. A portrait photo was never inserted.
