• Wehrpass to Pionier Ernst Mittermayr. He joined Panzer-Pionier-Bataillon 38 of the 2. Panzer-Division in September 1943 and was quickly wounded in Russia, for which he received the Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz. He made it back to his unit in May 1944. After D-Day, the 2. Panzer-Division was sent to Normandy and fought in the area of Saint-Lô after its arrival. On 8th of July 1944, the divisional history mentions an Allied breakthrough in the "Bois Saint-Germain" wood, about halfway between Saint-Lô and Caen. Mittermayr was KIA on that day, and now rests in the famous La Cambe cemetery.
