- Soldbuch to Leutnant Werner Menzel, an engineer from Berlin. Issued in September 1939, Menzel had been serving in the Luftwaffe for several years before. He was awarded the Dienstauszeichnung IV. Klasse in October 1938. Shortly before the start of the French campaign, Menzel was sent to his first active anti-aircraft unit: the Reserve-Flak-Abteilung 246. He fought well with this staff unit, and earned the EKII for France. Later, he was on the Eastern Front with Flak-Regiment 241, earning him the Ostmedaille, before he was sent to Italy with the I. Abteilung of Flak-Regiment 37 (mot.) in May 1944. This Abteilung was active in the area of Verona, Firenze and Bologna. In January 1945 Menzel transferred to the II. Abteilung of Flak-Regiment 5, also fighting in northern Italy.
- The Soldbuch is in a used but good and complete condition. Notice the entries for a private watch and private 7.65 mm FN pistol on page 21, as well as the nice portrait in technical officer uniform. The Soldbuch comes with his Militär-Führerschein issued by Flak-Regiment 12 in June 1936.
