- Soldbuch to Obergefreiter Wilhelm Strässer. First issue from January 1941. This mechanic from the Rhineland was originally deployed as a driver/mechanic in Kraftfahr and Werkstatt units, mostly with the Feldwerkstatt 562. This unit was part of the 7. Armee, known best for its participation in the Normandy operations. The 7. Armee was situated right at the heart of the invasion beaches on D-Day, Strässer must have retreated with his unit from France to the Heimat in the Autumn of 1944, and then participated in the Battle of the Bulge. Early 1945, he was assigned to the Lehr-Bataillon of the Armee-Waffenschule A.O.K.7. This somewhat obscure unit of the 7. Armee was used on the front lines and had been largely destroyed in Normandy. Clearly it saw its amount of combat in the Ardennes as well. The last dated entry in the Soldbuch is a rifle assigned on 4th of February, 1945. Strässer must have been made POW very soon after; this is also confirmed by his low American POW number 31G-1.359.861.
- The Soldbuch is in good condition and complete except for pages 22-23.
