- Wehrpass to Hauptmann Willy Grimme. First issue from September 1938. Grimme, born in Metz (now France), was a very well decorated veteran of the First World War. He was awarded the EK2, EK1, the Frontkämpfer Ehrenkreuz, Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz, and then the uncommon Türkischer Halbmond ("Eisernen Halbmond" or Galipoli Star), the Turkish Liakat-Medaille and the Tunesian Ifthikar-Medaille for his overseas service. In World War 2, he was called up again in May 1942 to serve as an officer in the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht (OKW), in the Wehrmachtverlustwesen (WVW) department, dealing with the Wehrmacht casulaties. He also served with the Oberfeldkommandatur 365 in Lemberg (Lviv) for a few months. In July 1944, at the age of 53, he was medically discharged.
