• Soldbuch to Unteroffizier Friedrich Hubert. First issue from September 1939. Hubert served for many years with Luftnachrichten units like Luftnachr.Abt.7 (Brunswick), and with air base command units like the Fliegerhorstkommandatur of Diedenhofen (Thionville, France) and the Fligerhorstkompanie Metz, also in France. In January 1943, he was allowed to pilot training. He finally earned the Flugzeugf├╝hrer-Abzeichen in November 1944. He then joined the school company of Jagdgeschwader 116, later reformed into the II. Gruppe of Jadgeschwader 107. This fighter pilot unit flew, among the well known Messerschmitt Bf 109, a range of captured aircraft including the Italian Reggiane and Fiat CR.42, and the French Potez 63. Hubert was still among the active flying personnel at the end of 1944 and may well have seen action against the overwhelming Allied air power in the last months of the war.
