• Wehrpass to Gefreiter Werner Diehl. First issue from September 1936. As a member of the Hitlerjugend, he had been awarded the Reichsjugendabzeichen. Diehl then volunteered for the Wehrmacht and after his RAD time he was trained with Nachrichten-Abteilung 29 in Gotha. December 1939, he moved to his final unit: Radfahr-Schwadron 182, the bicycle recon platoon of the newly formed 82. Infanterie-Division. Through Luxembourg and the Belgian Ardennes, the 82.ID entered fighting in France in May 1940. During the last phase of Fall Rot, Werner Diehl was killed in action in the woods on the northern slope of the village Le Chatelier, in the Argonnes forest, Marne department.
