- Soldbuch to Oberleutnant Herbert Weinhold. First issue from October 1939. Weinhold entered the war as a Feldwebel (likely Zugführer) in an MG Kompanie of Infanterie-Regiment 274, part of the 94. Infanterie-Division. He was wounded during the frontal attack of his regiment on the Somme river in Voyennes on June 6th, 1940. He was awarded the Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz and EKII following this early wound and rejoined his unit while it was occupying the area of Toul in France, late 1940. He was promoted to Leutnant and fought with his regiment on the southern sector of the Eastern Front. After a second (minor) wound in July 1941, Weinhold's third wound sustained on 14th of February 1942 was a lot more serious. His leg was amputated after a shot through the knee. He was, on the other hand, lucky to be taken out before the final destruction of the 94.ID during the battle for Stalingrad! The amputation meant the end of his front career; he spent a lot of time in hospital and finally assumed command of a Kompanie of the Grenadier-Ersatz-Bataillon 32.
- During his career, Weinhold was awarded no less than 8 awards: the RAD Dienstauszeichnung IV. Klasse for his prewar service as a RAD officer, the Czech annexation medal, the EKII and VWA Schwarz for the French campaign, the EKI in the East, and then the Verwundetenabzeichen in Gold (!) and the rare Versehrtensportabzeichen following his last wound.
- The Soldbuch is in a very good condition, pages are loose but it's a 100% complete and packed with entries. Included are serveral pistol entries (P.38, Walther 7.65, MAB 6.35), the MP40, compass, binoculars, flashlight, and a great portrait photo. Also included is his original early aluminium Erkennungsmarke, matching with the Soldbuch and with the string included.
