• Wehrpass to Stabsgefreiter Wilhelm Graf. Zweitschrift issue from 1943; a typical reissue for veterans of the 6. Armee, who had all lost their original Wehrpass with the destruction of the Stalingrad pocket. This is confirmed by an entry on page 46 of the Wehrpass.
  • Graf served for many years as a Kradmelder in the 5. Batterie of Artillerie-Regiment 53. Deployed as Heerestruppe, the II.Art.Rgt.53 saw action with the XI. Armmekrops in Holland, Belgium and France in the May 1940 campaign. It then fought its way through the Southern sector of the Eastern Front from 1941 to 1943, ending up in the Stalingrad pocket. Graf managed to escape from Stalingrad and was among the personnel who joined the newly erected II.Art.Rgt.53 in the Spring of 1943. This time, the Abteilung would soon be reformed into the IV. Abteilung of Panzer-Artillerie-Regiment 33, part of the new 15. Panzer-Grenadier-Division on Sicily.
  • With his new division, Graf would immediately see action on the Italian front: the 15.Pz.Gren.Div. would find itself in the heat of the action following the Allied invasion on Sicily (Operation Husky) starting on 10th of July 1943. On July 29th, 1943, Graf was hit by shrapnel in the right arm in Cerami, in the north of Sicily. He was soon fit for further service in Italy, retreating with his division through southern Italy, fighting on the Anzio beachhead, and ending up at the Second Battle of Monte Cassino. During the retreat from Cassino, about half way to Rome and just past Frosinone, Graf was wounded a second time on June 2nd, 1944, this time by shrpanel in the left knee. This time the wound was more serious and he probably did not see action again.
  • During his years of service on some of the best known battlefields, Graf was awarded the Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 13. M√§rz 1938, the Ostmedaille, the KVKII, the Kraftfahrbew√§hrungsabzeichen in Bronze and finally the Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz and the EKII for his Sicily wound. The Wehrpass has some loose pages due to rusty staples but is a 100% complete and in good condition, with some spectacular battle lists. It comes with two extra documents.
