- Soldbuch to Obergefreiter Hans Zürrlein. First issue from 1940. Zürrlein served for many years with the Luftnachrichten-Regiment des Oberbefehlshabers der Luftwaffe in Potsdam. An entry on page 10 and the additional portrait photo prove he was detached to France around 1942-'43. He likely stayed in France until the invasion, as on 20th of August 1944 there is a first confirmed unit entry with the Staff of the IV. Abteilung of Fallschirmjäger-Regiment 6. He joined the FJR6 somewhere between January 1944 and this date - unfortunately there is no exact date to prove he was already with the FJR6 on D-Day. Either way, Zürrlein retreated on the Western Front with the renowned FJR6, and fought with bravery: on 20th of January 1945, he was awarded the EKII, signed off by the IV. Abteilung's Adjudant. Interestingly but not surprising, the award document had been made by the 85. Infanterie-Division. The FJR6 and the 85.ID had a common history fighting together in Belgium and Holland ("Kampfgruppe Chill"), and later in Zülpich in the Hürtgenwald sector. On 19th of February 1945, Zürrlein moved to the 14. Kompanie of the FJR6. This is the last dated entry in the Soldbuch - he was likely captured soon after.
- The Soldbuch is missing pages 1-4. It comes with an extra postcard sized portrait photo, two letters and two documents from his POW time.
