• Wehrpass to the young Gefreiter Wilhelm Klingenstein. First issue started in August 1942. Klingenstein was shortly trained as a Panzerjäger just after his 18th birthday from May 1943, then sent to the front with the 1. Kompanie of Panzerjäger-Abteilung 5 in July 1943. This Abteilung, part of the 5. Jäger-Division, was by then already equiped with Sturmgeschütze. Klingenstein fought the rest of the year on the Northern sector of the Eastern front, but was then hit by shrapnel in his head on 20th of December 1943. On this very same day he was awarded the EKII. The Verwundetenabzeichen in Silber would soon follow, indicating a very serious injury (likely brain damage or loss of sight at that point, early January 1943). After his evacuation to the Heimat, he died of his wounds in the Reservelazarett of Königsberg on 13th of February 1944.
