- Soldbuch to Obergefreiter Emil Daniel, opened in April 1941. Daniel served as a construction pioneer with the Bau-Bataillon 221, active on the southern sector of the Eastern Front. From 1942 on, many Russian POW's were incorporated in this unit. In 1944, Bau-Bataillon 221 followed the 2. Armee to the central sector of the Eastern Front. By then, Daniel had been awarded the Ostmedaille and the Kubanschild. Likely he was already captured during the Russian summer offensive of 1944. He entered the Russian POW camps and unfortunately never returned home. Emil Daniel died in Russian captivity in the Kriegsgefangenenlager Makejewska, near Stalino in the Ukraine, on 2nd of February 1946.
